Tarrant County CAD Important Deadlines

  • January 1 – The Tarrant County Central Appraisal District (TAD) determines the appraised value of properties as of this date.
  • January 31 – Property taxes must be paid to avoid delinquency. Over-65 and disability homestead accounts must make their first installment under the quarter payment plan.
  • February 1 – Unpaid taxes from the previous year begin accruing penalties and interest. The penalty starts at 6% and increases monthly, reaching a maximum of 12% by July. Interest accrues at 1% per month until the full balance is paid.
  •  March 31 – Second quarter payment due for Over-65 and disability homestead accounts. Also, the final day to pay business personal property accounts without incurring an additional collection penalty. Delinquent accounts on April 1 may face an additional collection penalty.
  •  April 15 – Deadline to file a Business Personal Property (BPP) Rendition Form or an Extension Request Form.
  • April 30 – Last day to file exemption applications with the Tarrant County Central Appraisal District.
  • May 15 – Deadline to submit a property tax protest with the Tarrant County Central Appraisal District.
  • May 31 – Third quarter payment due for Over-65 and disability homestead accounts.
  • June 30 – Second installment deadline for taxpayers using the half-payment option.
  • July 1 – Delinquent accounts for the current year are transferred to tax attorneys for collection. A collection penalty of up to 20% is added to the unpaid balance.
