Bell County Central Appraisal District Bell CAD Important Deadlines
- January 1
The Bell County Central Appraisal District (Bell CAD) appraises property at its value as of this date each year. This appraisal serves as the basis for that tax year’s assessments. - January 31
This is the last day to pay your previous year’s property taxes without incurring penalties and interest charges. For example, 2024 property taxes are due by January 31, 2025. - April 15
Deadline for filing business personal property renditions. Filing a rendition allows business owners to report their taxable personal property to Bell CAD. An automatic extension to May 15 is available upon written request; additional extensions may be granted under certain circumstances. - May 1
Bell CAD mails Notices of Appraised Value to property owners if their property’s appraised value increased, if the owner filed a rendition, or if the property was newly included on the appraisal roll. This notice provides the property’s proposed appraised value and information on how to protest that value. - May 15
Deadline for property owners to file a protest with the Appraisal Review Board (ARB) regarding their property’s appraised value or exemptions. Protests must be filed by May 15 or within 30 days after the Notice of Appraised Value was mailed, whichever is later. - July 25
Bell CAD certifies the appraisal roll to taxing units. This roll includes the certified appraised values of all properties within the jurisdiction, which taxing units use to set their tax rates. - October 1
Tax assessors mail tax bills for the year (or as soon thereafter as practical). Taxing units mail tax bills to property owners. Upon receiving the bill, taxes become due and may be paid without penalty until January 31 of the following year. Early payment discounts may be available in October, November, and December, depending on the taxing unit. - November 30
First half of split payment of taxes is due on or before this date. - November 31
Last day for taxing units’ first quarterly payment for the next year’s CAD budget.
