Important Tax Payment & Installment Deadlines

  • January 1
    The date that determines taxable value and homestead status, as per the Montgomery County Texas CAD.
    Over-65 or disability homestead exemption applications may be filed the year the applicant becomes 65 or meets the Social Security requirements for total disability.
  • January 31
    Last day to pay prior year property taxes without penalty and interest, as required by the Montgomery County Tax Appraisal Office. If a deadline falls on a weekend or legal holiday, the last day to file is automatically extended to the next business day.
  • April 1
    Last day for business property owners to file renditions or request an extension, as required by the Montgomery County Texas Appraisal District.
  • April 30
    Last day to apply for agricultural, timber, or wildlife productivity appraisal, ensuring lower taxable values for qualifying properties.
  • May 15
    Montgomery County Property Tax Protest Deadline- Deadline to file written protests to the Appraisal Review Board (ARB) against the MCAD appraised value. If a Notice of Appraised Value is mailed to the property owner after May 15, the deadline is extended to 30 days after the notice is mailed.
  • October
     Tax bills are usually mailed during this month, ensuring property owners receive assessment updates.
